Steven Van Patten did a ton of press in October and November of 2020. Not only was he in the Bookstr 5×5 with Linda Addison, Rena Mason and Marc Abbott, he was a guest on Michelle Lane’s Girl Meets Monster, the Between The Reads podcast hosted by Audra Russell, Chilling Chat Special, the Black Nerd Power podcast, The Sugar & Spice Book Club Live, and The Spice with DJ Mickey D.
Van Patten was also nominated for another African-American Literary Award, and wrote another episode of YouTube’s Extra Credits, this one focused on the Harlem Renaissance. And he still found time to produce his weekly podcast, Beef, Wine & Shenanigans, with Marc Abbott and Kirk Johnson, and publish a how-to-grow medicinal marijuana book, written by master West Coast breeders Ray Munns and Jacob Pasino. Growth: The Basics Of Our Gardens debuted at #1 in Amazon’s New Releases the week of November 7th and has recently peaked in the #4 overall slot in the Amazon category of Urban Gardening. It’s safe to say the Laughing Black Vampire is branching out and making bloody lemonade out of the COVID lemons.
